Prompt: Describe a time when you felt completely lost.

 Prompt Response: When I was in 8th grade we were going back to school after COVID-19, and I had moved schools. Not surprisingly I struggled to make friends. That whole year in person I only really had a couple people I even talked to let alone call my friends. It was the most alone I had ever felt in that big empty house. 


Summary: I was absent today in class but we would have been presenting our masks/turning them in. 


Reflection: Life can be something else. There is good in this world. You will eventually find your crowd of people who make you feel at peace and happy.

 Prompt Response: I would complain same as him. He should have the chance to try and become a driver just as a white man should too.  Summary: Today in class we had no internet. Instead we wrote notes about denotation and connotation. We also read the 1st second of Act 1 of our play.  Reflection: The book is entertaining and I look forward to grasping more about the character's minds and their motivations. I wonder if Troy's speeches will be a relevant part of the story.

Prompt: Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Describe what you would think, say, and do, and how this discovery would reshape how you see Mister and yourself. Reflect on why this moment would matter so much and how it would change your next choices.

 Prompt Response: I would be furious. How dare he hide this information from me. The person I care about most he hides from me. I would confront him on the matter that instant. I couldn't live with myself if I had spent years believing in this lie created from him. My view of him would drop to the lowest view of a person. This moment means so much because it betrays any trust Mr.__ could have earned and demonstrates the disconnect between Celie and Mr.__.  Summary: Today in class we read more of the Color Purple and went over answers from the previous day.  Reflection: I cannot imagine the betray Celie felt when she found Mr.__ had kept Nettie's letters from her. I am surprised she didn't lash out more against him. I can't decide if it shows her mental fortitude or weakness to act in this moment.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?

 Prompt Response: When I was young this applied to my dad. I feared him and admired him. I admired how he could work so hard and keep going but when he punished me I had this fear of him. That fear didn't go away until I was about 14. The idea of goodness is subjective to what you want to enjoy/acknowledge and once you know that life becomes simpler.  Summary: In class we read The Lamb and The Tyger. Along with that we worked on our one pager about those previously mentioned poems.  Reflection: When I think of the lamb and the tiger I can't help but relate more the tiger. For me its hard to relate to the absolute innocence and blind obedience of the lamb. I think most would choose to be beautiful and dangerous versus innocent and pure.
