Prompt: Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

Prompt Response: I've had people assume because I'm white I am racist in middle school. This happened when I moved schools from Dekalb County to Gwinnett County. I was quiet and didn't stick up for myself. This led to a rumor being spread that I was racist, when in fact I didn't want to hang out with any of these people. Later that year my only friends were people you would consider minorities, and I wasn't friends with them to help with the rumors but because they were good people.

Summary: In class we finished up the culture poems then had a guest speaker who talked to us about senior stuff. It was mainly about what we were going to do after high school and where to get help for advice.

Reflection: I always feel uncomfortable talking about race and such because it only became a thing in my mind during middle school by other kids. Yet its presence is a real thing which I must acknowledge. When I have to go through these thoughts in my head its uncomfortable yet profoundly important.

Prompt: Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Describe what you would think, say, and do, and how this discovery would reshape how you see Mister and yourself. Reflect on why this moment would matter so much and how it would change your next choices.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
