Recall a specific incident when someone’s words offended you. Describe what was said, how it made you feel, and what actions you took in response. Reflect on whether your response helped resolve the situation or changed how you think about communication.

Prompt Response: What sticks out most to me is when my step dad called me ungrateful. Like the poem we read today I don't remember what happened prior or even after. When he said that it filled me with anger then sadness. The anger was only a flash before the sadness followed. In that moment I felt fundamentally misunderstood which was a horrible feeling.

Summary: In class we read a poem about a boy going to a new city and being called an offensive term. Then we had class discussions surrounding the poem and its themes.

Reflection: I thought I am not affected by offensive words. What I learned was that I can move on from those offensive words to me much quicker so it seems like they don't bother me.

Prompt: Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Describe what you would think, say, and do, and how this discovery would reshape how you see Mister and yourself. Reflect on why this moment would matter so much and how it would change your next choices.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
