Prompt: In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).
Prompt Response:
I plan to make a 4 or 5 on my AP exams I'm taking this May. This goal is important to me because it will allow me to exempt classes in college, costing me less time to get into classes that interest me. To accomplish this, I will be present in class, missing 5 days of school. I will study and work toward maintaining a 90% or higher in the class to ensure I understand the material.
I plan to make it to sectionals in individual wrestling for my weight class. This goal is important to me because I have never made it to sectionals in my previous years of wrestling, and if I were to make it. It would show my growth as a person and a wrestler. To accomplish this, I will be present at practice every day. I will work hard to make sure I leave the practice sweaty and tired to ensure I will be on weight/ in shape. I will adopt a routine during wrestling season to make sure I get enough sleep so it does not affect my performance.
I plan to finish 5 books before I go away to college. This goal matters to me because throughout my life I always wanted to read more but never did. I wanted to expand my worldview and mind because I want to become a more well-rounded person who enjoys peace in the quiet moments of life. To accomplish this, I will read a minimum of 1 chapter a day, or 15 pages of the book. I will do whichever is longer each night before I lay down.
I plan to save up $ 3,000 so I can purchase a car before I leave for college. This goal is important to me because I use my parents' car right now, but that comes with a leash of control with an expiration date. I want full freedom of where I go, and when I go somewhere. To accomplish this, I will get a job after wrestling season, so I should start working about late February. I will work a minimum of 10 hours a week during the school year and summer. I will save 75% of my checks, so by summer's end I will have sufficient funds to purchase my car.
My coach had no wrestling going on during the time so I spent the majority of the break hanging out with my friends and family. I got to celebrate my last Christmas at home with my family before I went away to college and for New Years I spent it with my friends and my girlfriend. Then for something productive I ended up finishing 3 books over break. Those being Dracula by Bram Stoker, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, and Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.
Summary:
In class Mr. Reese went over the class expectations and new restroom rules. For our assignment we did 4 smart goals on writable. I then finished class by starting on my blog post.
Reflection: I’m excited for this year and semester but not for this restroom policy. I can understand logging leaving for the bathrooms and such but an email for every visit seems excessive and I don’t even leave class to use the restroom. It seems like excessive rules for the 1% if that makes sense.
