Prompt: How important is education in your life right now? Do you think students around the world value school the same way you do? Explain your reasoning.

 Prompt Response: Right now my key focus is passing all my classes with the highest I can get my grades reasonably in this period. I will try my best to perform well and do well on my AP Exams but I’m not super stressed to do so. In a way finals and the end of the year is relaxing because you are riding the waves of your past efforts until the school year ends. I think students who have struggled with grades will be panicking right now because they risk failing the grade, but those who kept up will be more relaxed like me. 


Summary: In class we watched a documentary about children and their journey to school, and answered some questions about the documentary. 


Reflection: It is inspiring to see the lengths these children will go to in order to get to school. It can make you appreciate the value of education just a little bit more.

 Prompt Response: I would be furious. How dare he hide this information from me. The person I care about most he hides from me. I would confront him on the matter that instant. I couldn't live with myself if I had spent years believing in this lie created from him. My view of him would drop to the lowest view of a person. This moment means so much because it betrays any trust Mr.__ could have earned and demonstrates the disconnect between Celie and Mr.__.  Summary: Today in class we read more of the Color Purple and went over answers from the previous day.  Reflection: I cannot imagine the betray Celie felt when she found Mr.__ had kept Nettie's letters from her. I am surprised she didn't lash out more against him. I can't decide if it shows her mental fortitude or weakness to act in this moment.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?

 Prompt Response: When I was young this applied to my dad. I feared him and admired him. I admired how he could work so hard and keep going but when he punished me I had this fear of him. That fear didn't go away until I was about 14. The idea of goodness is subjective to what you want to enjoy/acknowledge and once you know that life becomes simpler.  Summary: In class we read The Lamb and The Tyger. Along with that we worked on our one pager about those previously mentioned poems.  Reflection: When I think of the lamb and the tiger I can't help but relate more the tiger. For me its hard to relate to the absolute innocence and blind obedience of the lamb. I think most would choose to be beautiful and dangerous versus innocent and pure.

How was your Fall break?

 Prompt response: I spent the break relaxing and catching up on sleep. Wrestling starts today so I took the break to get in some more running to improve my endurance for the season. I hung out with my friends mostly and caught up with old friends.
